Farms, a cemetery and the old Big Cow
The eastern part of Kulangoor is a valley and the developed part of the locality, with small farms and rural residential use, all freehold. The Bruce Highway forms the eastern boundary, with the Nambour Connection Road running beside it.
Sunshine Coast Council's Kulangoor Cemetery at 31-89 Ackerman Road was established in 1987. Works to establish a new burial beam there were scheduled from 25 May to 30 June 2026 under council's Capital Works Program.
Kulangoor was known as the home of The Big Cow for many years. It was built in the 1970s at a working dairy farm on Ayrshire Road, and on 10 January 2020 it was moved to the Highfields Pioneer Village near Toowoomba.
- The name
- Kulangoor takes its name from its railway station, named on 11 April 1921 from the Kabi language word kalang, meaning good.
- Forested west
- The western part of the locality is mountainous and densely forested. Most of the north-western and western part is the Mapleton Conservation Park, and the south-western area is the Wappa State Forest.
