Poona Dam and Nambour Mapleton Road
Poona Dam is an earth-fill embankment dam across a tributary of the South Maroochy River. Its main purpose is storage of potable water for the Sunshine Coast region.
The dam was built in 1959. Its wall was raised in 1969, and the spillway upgraded in 1998.
Kureelpa State School was at 551 Nambour Mapleton Road from 1916 to 1967. The site is now the Blackall Range Independent School, which opened on 2 February 1975.
