Plastering in a growing river town

Bli Bli is a few kilometres inland from the Maroochydore urban area. It rises above the wetlands that were, for many years, the home of the Sunshine Coast sugarcane industry, and state government legislation ensures the wetlands will remain an undeveloped Green Space.

The locality had 6,283 people at the 2011 census, 7,801 in 2016 and 10,138 in 2021.

At the 2021 Census, Bli Bli had 3,948 private dwellings. Of its occupied private dwellings, 2,998 (81.9%) were separate houses and 604 (16.5%) were semi-detached, row or terrace houses or townhouses.

Heritage-listed
The Bli Bli Public Hall at 87 Willis Road and the former Bli Bli Presbyterian Church at 89 Willis Road are heritage-listed.
Sunshine Castle
Opened as Fairytale Castle in March 1972, it was renamed Sunshine Castle in 2006. It now houses a medieval museum and serves as an events venue.
David Low Bridge
The David Low Bridge over the Maroochy River opened in Bli Bli on 15 August 1959.

Bli Bli and the Maroochy River

The Maroochy River flows through the locality, and the Bruce Highway forms its south-western boundary.

Bli Bli Provisional School opened on 2 April 1901 and became Bli Bli State School on 1 January 1909.
