Plastering in the valley of the snakes
Diddillibah's name comes from a local Aboriginal word dhilla, meaning "coarse grass" or "carpet snake", and ba, meaning "place". It is also known as the "valley of the snakes".
At the 2021 Census, Diddillibah had 1,703 people and 700 private dwellings. Of its occupied private dwellings, 555 (91.4%) were separate houses, and 282 (46.5%) were owned outright.

Cracks in walls and ceilings
A fine crack along a sheet joint can be cut out, re-taped and set. A crack that keeps coming back, or one with a sag beside it, means something behind the board has moved, and that needs fixing before the surface is finished.
