Plastering around Poona Dam
Poona Dam is an earth-fill embankment dam across a tributary of the South Maroochy River. Its main purpose is storage of potable water for the Sunshine Coast region.
At the 2021 Census, Kureelpa had 968 people and 348 private dwellings. Of its occupied private dwellings, 320 (97.3%) were separate houses, and 148 (45.0%) were owned outright.

- The dam
- Poona Dam was built in 1959. The dam wall was raised in 1969, and the spillway upgraded in 1998.
- Old school site
- Kureelpa State School was at 551 Nambour Mapleton Road from 1916 to 1967. The site is now the Blackall Range Independent School, which opened on 2 February 1975.
- Kureelpa Falls
- The 8.5-kilometre Kureelpa Falls circuit starts at the Mapleton day-use area trailhead and passes through a gorge and rockpools. It should be avoided after heavy rains.
When plasterboard gets wet
Plasterboard that has been soaked, from a roof leak or a burst pipe, can bulge, sag or go soft. Once that happens it does not recover, and the damaged section needs to be cut out and replaced.
Board that has only stained and is still firm and dry can be sealed and repainted once the leak is fixed.
